Award winning Alawari is a Copenhagen-based Danish/Polish/Slovakian instrumental ensemble founded in 2016. Known for their explosive live performances and powerful orchestral sound, the six-piece quickly established itself on the European jazz scene, winning JazzDanmark’s Young Jazz competition in their first year.
Their self-titled 2022 debut on April Records was widely acclaimed and won DMA Jazz’s New Artist of the Year award. Their second album, Leviathan (2024), expands their sound into a deeply orchestrated exploration of spirituality, transformation, and the human experience, blending complex compositions, improvisation, and symphonic grandeur - for which they were nominated for Album of the Year at the DMA’s.
With six musicians creating a sound far larger than the ensemble itself, Alawari continues to push the boundaries of contemporary jazz through dynamic arrangements, intensity, and expansive sonic landscapes.
