As newly crowned winners of the national Danish Jazz Competition, Zinssou Quartet is no afraid to redefine the boundaries in which a modern jazz quartet operates. With piano and cello in front, the quartet mixes elements from classical chamber music, traditional nordic music and modern New Yorker jazz.
The quartet's debut EP “Et ungdomstestamente” (A Testament of Youth), is a tribute to naivety, aspiration, and all th things that characterize youth. The young band has an intuitive and explorative approach to the music through their pursuit of an honest and vivid expression. With a strong presence in the music, Zinssou Quartet invites the listener into sensitive and playful universe, which is felt in body and soul.
Maiken Thunbo (cello), Carl Zinssou (piano), Elias Hvidtfeldt (double bass), Lasse Gerup (drums)
